You've got mail

Have you ever been in a chat relation? When there is actually no relation but you still enjoy that nothingness called a relation.

I just watched a movie “You’ve got mail”. The movie not only touched me but even inspired me enough to fuel this dead blog.

It’s about an online friendship which made me wonder why are these virtual relations so real, more real than the real ones?

As Kelly, in the movie, said : “The odd thing about this form of communication is that you're more likely to talk about nothing than something. But I just want to say that all this nothing has meant more to me than so many somethings.”

So true it is. I think such friendships move on to the next level because this allows you to be so you all the time without the fear of being judged. Even if you are being judged you don’t care about  a stranger judging you.

So anyone, who has ever enjoyed such a friendship  without any strings attached and then was fortunate enough to move this friendship to the next level, should watch this movie.

Tomorrow as mom will be leaving for home, a thought crossed my mind as a reflection on the marvelous days we enjoyed together here like anything. Working in biologics, I now find it difficult to think of analogies beyond bio. So here is the analogy that rippled across the thinking part of me.

When we grow cells in a cell culture, we provide cells with glucose which cells take up as primary energy source. Once this glucose gets exhausted in the cell culture, cells adapt themselves to other energy sources present in the culture media like glutamine which are like secondary sources of energy. Cells survive on such sources for few more days.

We, staying out of home, is like living on 'glutamine'. Having mom n dad here was like getting my dose of glucose. When we adapt ourselves to secondary sources, we forget that there are primary sources available which are the best and after a certain period of time, the time we take to adapt, our new life seems perfect. But I now know for sure there is no better thing for cells than the primary source. There is no better thing in life than the actual happiness of being together with your loved ones. There cannot be any greater joy than the joy of giving joy to your most beloved ones.

I find my Hyderabad life to be perfect with quality work, fun, freedom and every materialistic joy under the sky. But having mom n dad here added that blissful anonymous thing which we forget in our adapted lives. After mom leaves, I’ll again adapt to my diet of glutamine in a day or two. But in the past few days when I was moved while having true joy, I tried to imagine a life without all the hypothetical materialistic dreams of being a top gun in bio or earning huge bucks, rather a life perfectly complete at home with mom, dad, bhai and bhabhi! Sounds like ethereal melody to ears. But life moves on as it written and may be that’s only for good.

Right now I would like to go with option (C): Can’t say

Jab Ruchi ko yeh sab sunaya phone pe, kahti baat to sahi hai, but tu sahi mein pagal ho chuka hai!! :D

Reflection on the year that was...

Since this new year eve, the thoughts of reflecting on 08 have been doin the rounds in my mind, but the mental and physical occupation i am going thru thz days, is not allowing me to do the same. I hope to pen down all that is goin inside me by the end of first month of 09!!

Salsa over but not out

Today was the last class for our level 1. Right now writing this after the class, i hv mixed emotions. From tomorrow i won't be having any class...tht makes my schedule a bit lighter but at the same time empty as well after work.

Today each couple gave 2 performances. It was too much fun. Learnt cross lead and also open lead. Both of these are tuf but look really good on the dance floor. Had a long photo shoot after the class. I thoroughly enjoyed these classes...alltogether a new experience. Whether i learnt anything or not, i now know for sure tht pappu like me can dance salsa!!

Salsa 6

Today the boss of the boss came!! He is Sachin who owns all these salsa classes in hyderabad and is also the instructor of our instructor. Man, he is God!! It was thrilling to c him dance and what style he added to the steps we have learnt...it was amazing. He taught girls to add a pinch of sexiness to the dance to break the monotony in between but also cautioned not to do it too often. His reason was simple- if u do that, no guy is gonna dance with u. That pinch shud be like a spark on the pan, u don't have to fill the pan with sparks!
Rest we learnt a new step today that is to change sides witht partner...the technical term for it escaping my menory at the moment. Tomorrow is my last class for this first level of salsa. hopefully i'll click some pics tomorrow.

Salsa 5

Had a very interesting class today. The instructor did not teach new steps, rather choreographed a dance for us using all the steps we have learnt so far. So we have prepared a salsa that we'll present to the senior dancer who will be visiting the studio. mazaa aa gaya aaj!!

Salsa 4

It was a 2 hour weekend class today. I'll just be summarizing all the steps we have learnt so far just for my memory.

STEPS:
1. Fwd basic
2. Side Basic
3. Back Basic (version 1 and version 2)
4. Men's right turn

HOLDS:
1. Double hold
2. Cross hold
3. Close hold

LEADS:
1. Fwd basic = push both hands
2. Side basic = Push to ur left
3. Back basic 1= push with ur left
4. Back basic 2= give a jerk
5. Right turn- give a jerk and leave the hand at beat no. 5

SHINES:
1. Roll and Shake
2. Diamond
3. Diamond dip
4. Diamond hook
5. Suzy Q
6. Suzy Q dip
7. Flash

Move on Salsa...

Have nothing much to write today...or may be I hv, but i am not that excited today. Actually it was a tough class, in a way i was unable to copy the steps. The steps today were some new shines, the diamond (one of the best steps) and the Men's right turn. It was the men's right turn wich frustrated me. I'll polish it tomorrow on my saturday.

The highlight of the class today was "couple's 2 minutes". Each of the couple was asked to give a performance, supposing as if we were in a ballroom, on salsa music. So each couple gave a performance (a kind of an exam of what we have learnt till now) to the audience in the studio. Mine was good as we got a clap from the instructor and i felt i gave correct leads to my lady. However, the instructor made the remark "dude u don't have to look at ur feet when u have a pretty lady in front of u." I said: " right now i m more concerned abt getting my footing rite rather than the lady, so that wen i am with my actual girl, i can be concerned only abt her". :)

That's all for today. But i do not think i am gud enuf to go for an advanced course.

Salsa continued...

We advanced further in today's class  which was even better...every class is getting better and better. The steps learned today were: back basic (closed shoulder), back basic 2 (open shoulder)...thz steps were simple. Wat made the class exceptional was the new hold- the close hold! I found it to very graceful and sophisticated hold and wen u r doin it with ur tht special partner, i am sure it is gonna be sensual. Some minute points to note today are:

1. Let the lady rest her arm on ur arm and ur shoulder support.
2. This one is not official...from my experience...before salsa, pop in some mint...my partenr,though a beautiful lady, but she had a bad breath!!
3. Never pull or push ur partner...it might invite a slap from the lady
4. The lady will always wait for the lead from the guy. if u do not give the lead, she will not start the step and if u do not give the correct lead, she might step over ur feet with those HEELS!!
5. Height of the partner matters a lot for the comfort in salsa. If shez much shorter than u...it's goin to be      uncomfortable. Ladies are suggested to wear heels.Also, being slim, i found if shez heavy thts also a problem.

I had earlier planned to join synthesizer (music) classes after salsa...but i m liking this thing so much tht i think i'll continue with the advanced classes and leave music for a while!!
